What's this rash?

This rash has developed up the entire length of both of my arms and on the tops of both of my feet. It is raised and feels slightly rough. It is slightly itchy but not overly so. I know you aren't GP's and can't diagnose and I am awaiting contact from a GP about it (unless it's really urgent we have to fill in an online form which I did on Monday but our surgery is rubbish and it can days for them to even acknowledge it!) but I am just wondering if anyone can shed any light or had anything similar while I am waiting? I have been to see the pharmacy for advice but as I have not long come off antibiotics (for blepharitis of both eyes) then the pharmacist said a GP would need to advise rather than them.
Thanks 😊

Uriticaria

Could be an allergic reaction to the antibiotics

Riddlediddle · 08/06/2022 22:07

@Valhalla17 just Googled uriticaria and agree the images look very similar to my rash. I guess my issue is working out what's causing the allergic reaction

@Seeline i had the rash appear a few weeks ago before I'd had the antibiotics so it can't be that. I didn't do anything about it the first time as it was a one-off and wasn't as bad as this time

Have you tried taking antihistamines?

It's really hard trying to work out what causes allergies.
Washing powders, soap, cosmetics, foods etc. You can become allergic to something over time so it doesn't have to be anything new. There is always the dreaded 'improved formula' situation too.

My DD and I both have virally and hormonally induced urticaria. Which means that we get hives at weird random times, sometimes obviously triggered by a cold or being pregnant or getting our periods and sometimes there is no obvious reason at all. For the most part an antihistamine will get rid of it. Although my DD did end up in A&E a few months ago with a really bad case that wasn't touched by antihistamines or the steroids they gave her in A&E. She's nineteen and has had this since she was a baby and I've had it my whole life too.
