I had a telephone call the other day with the doctor , i mentioned that I take a very small amount of aspirin everyday… ( having a four day break throughout the month )
reasons for this is that I’ve had a stroke before when I was very young.
she agreed this was a good idea and said it wouldn’t hurt…
however I have read awful things on google about bleeding ect ect ….
what’s other peoples thoughts on this.

Do you know what caused your stroke? Strokes can be caused by a bleed or a blood clot and obviously the treatments are not the same..
id probably want to discuss with the dr the cause of your stroke and what to do about it because aspirin isn’t a first line treatment, for some things it’s not the right treatment, for other things there are more effective treatments, for other things you’d need to treat the root cause. They also need to assess your risk factors for the aspirin causing an ulcer which will depend on age, history etc

You have been taking aspirin and since your doctor agreed it was ok you have decided to Google it?

I take aspirin everyday on the advice of a consultant after having a TIA z last year. I haven’t been advised of any reasons why I shouldn’t be taking it.

That’s a bit weird. Why if you have had a stroke very young are you not on it “officially” via the doctors, and also clopidogrel is first line for stroke rather than aspirin nowadays. Worth clarifying further with your GP.

I had a stroke 6 years ago and take aspirin everyday (75mg). This was on the advice of my stroke consultant and a haematologist. If you have been advised to take it by your Dr then I don't see a problem so long as your doctor is fully aware of the cause of your stroke and type of stroke and the aspirin makes sense in light of those factors
