Hello, I’m a mum of three young children and we have had pinworms for over a month. We’ve all been using ovex, have used it a few times. I’ve been washing the bedding daily, showering us all in the morning and before bed. I haven’t hoovered every day but every few days and have been wiping around the beds daily. The children have books near their beds, should I get rid of these? I read about hoovering the mattress but haven’t done that yet. Any advice would be must appreciated, thank you.
Kids are getting fed up with all the washing and I constantly have a massive pile of washing as no one is sharing towels and the daily bedding change. This is very hard work! 😞

I think you need to speak to the GP or pharmacist to see if there’s something else you can use.
Have you thought about where you might be getting re-infected from ?

It's awful we had it when kids were at nursery and early primary school. We got it on and off for months, it does go. Always were underwear, kids especially even under pyjamas. When you take them off at morning do it slow so no eggs go far then hoover once they have clean underwear on. Just hoover and Hoover. After first change of bedding because they are wearing underwear yoh dont need to change it everyday once a week is fine. Shower everyday and seperate towels. Just make sure you have second tablet, we got rid of it for about month then it came back so we think re infected through other kids.

Oh lord this is me, I seem to be the only one still affected though a dc had it first. I can't face any more bed changing and I've had so many doses of ovex now. I need to get everyone else in the family on board with the morning showering etc but they aren't feeling it so aren't bothered. Sad I bloody hate it Sad

Damp dusting and possible wear gloves at night.

Try and map the pattern- is it clearing in most of you, but you are getting reinfected from one of the children, for example.

It can be from the nursery sand pit, for example.

Treat any nail biting, use nail brushes when they wash their hands.
Do a big family handwash before meals.
Discourage hands in the mouth for any reason.
Try and do lots of fun handwashing- as well as bath before bed, play with soapy water in the day time, too. Every little helps!

You may just have to ride it out.

If it's any comfort, some families have them but don't get symptoms. Don't feel like you must be filthy to still have them. You may just have more symptoms so be more aware.

Are you sure you still have them? Sometimes the itching goes on long after the cause has. Try treating the itch, not the worms. See if that helps.

Wash bedding and pants at 60 or ahove to ensure the little critters don't survive the wash.

Also dry your washing outside because UV will also help.

Oh that's interesting, @picklemewalnuts
i do think I still see traces of them in the toilet. And I can feel them something moving on me at night Blush They seem to have migrated north on me too which I think is even worse.
