Has anyone had this pain in back of foot?

Over the past 3 months during work and after work I’ve been limping along. It’s obviously being made worse by being on my feet all day. The back of my foot and bottom of ankle at the back is so painful. Like the worst aching feeling (imagine you haven’t sat down for 24 hours).

As I walk and stretch the feet it kills. If I sit down or have a rest, when I get up after it’s 10 x worse. It actually hurts after I’ve rested more. Im baffled because it’s both feet and I don’t remember injuring myself.

You may have developed a heel spur

Or a tendonitis of your archilles tendon, I woukd take a trip to your doctor or physiotherapist

Is it plantar fasciitis www.nhs.uk/conditions/plantar-fasciitis/

The GP is one month waiting time for an appointment. It’s really been quite painful after work, after I’ve rested on the train then when I walk home from the station it hurts so much. Luckily I can rest afterwards so it’s not a big deal but it’s started hurting at work the past few days. Today it started after I had my lunch break. I was limping around, almost feels like someone is hitting me with a little hammer.

Plantar fasciitis? Super painful. If your shoes are very flat or you wear flip flops lots, change to a slightly heeled softer shoe.

Livedandlearned · 01/06/2022 16:56

If it is plantar fasciitis the best stretch I learned that worked for me was to gently bend your toes under, hold for a few seconds, release and do this a few times every day. So your stretching the top of your foot rather than the underneath.

If you can't see your gp and can afford it, look for a physio or podiatrist or a sports therapist (a good qualified one is worth their weight in gold). They'll be able to diagnose and help.

I have this! I do a lot of walking (for fun) and this started with a new pair of shoes, which I haven't worn since.

I have high arches and my foot goes inwards when I walk so I usually use arch supports.

This has got worse to the point that my ankle is weak and my tendon is swollen. Up to now I've put up with it but I probably need to see a podiatrist 🥺

Otherwise I won't be able to walk at all.

If I find anything that helps I'll report back

Buy elastic support socks.

I had pain more on outer side of foot and by toes. Came on suddenly at work and could hardly weight bare. I massaged foot, painkillers and put good insoles in my too flat shoes. I see it as a wear a better shoe warning. Insoles cheaper than new shoes....

Paininthefoot1 · 03/06/2022 08:19

I will try some insoles but I need to buy new work trainers anyway. Mine have no support actually they can’t be that good. On my days off there’s no pain at all. How do I know which insoles to try? Thanks

Go to an osteopath or podiatrist.

I'm having weird foot pain with no injury too. Mine is at the back of my heel on the outer side, if I press around the area there's one spot that's agonisingly painful. I've just made an appointment with my physio to check it out. It is kind of ok when I've walked for a bit but stiffens up when I rest then I'm limping when I start walking again.

Quite a variety of insoles at Boots...
