Cartilage piercing infection

So I had my tragus done a couple of weeks ago and recently it's been red, swollen and sore. Used boiled salted water and kitchen towel and removed green gunk. No active discharge from it I can see. Sore part on my neck if I press it.
From all the awareness I have, you shouldn't remove a piercing if infected. I sent photos to the GP who have texted to say remove and they will prescribe cream.
I'm really reluctant to do this - I think it's more likely to trap an infection as it heals over from all the online advice.
Is it worth going back to the piercer?

Fucidin cream? I was prescribed this for an infected snug piercing. Worked wonders and I was told to leave the jewellery in place.

Naseptin?

I think I need to calm down somehow. I always catastrophise and need instant reassurance it will be ok. In my head ive raced toward losing an ear and having a terrible infection.
I think I will cancel the out of hours, use the cream again and then see if over tomorrow it gets better. I'm out all day so can't do anything until evening Weds.

Naseptin is a good antibiotic cream for this sort of thing. It's neomycin, which can be bought over the counter in other countries and is used for lots of skin treatments. The other main ingredient is an antiseptic.

Apply the cream as advised - it's a genuine treatment.

@FannyFifer thank you that's kind. Im too embarrassed to post and don't want to be recognised. I know it's probably not a big deal to anyone else to deal with but it's really hard when I have kids and plans and the advice is conflicting. 111 were like a pp 'so you want a third opinion' and I can see out of hours tonight.
I have asd so probably am crap at communicating any of this.

No need to be embarrassed, these things happen. Can you post a close up so not recognised, someone might be able to help.

I've cancelled out of hours as I went to my mum who thought it looked better than it was a few hours ago (before seeing piercer etc). I think if it hadn't been text advice from the GP I'd be less stressed as I could have asked about the nhs stuff but thank you whoever posted about the cream being good, I think it should work.
I find stuff like this really stressful - my mum breathed on my ear accidentally and my OCD massively kicked in.
Im brilliant at managing health care for the kids! They have SEND and I have really sensible conversations etc with health care staff and make decisions.

Upshot - it still is pink on my face but less so, there's no pain and I'm going to take nurofen for swelling and use the cream again (twice a day) and reassess tomorrow when we get back.

Thank you for all the advice just chatting it through is so much easier than panicking alone.
