ALT not lowering

A couple of months ago I was told I had a fatty liver (NAFLD). At the time my ALT was 40 then bloods 2 weeks later were ALT 43. Since been told I have lost a stone in weight through healthy eating, changed my diet and cut down on sugar and white carbs and increased my fruit and veg intake and drink lots more water. Also increased amount of exercise I do.Just had bloods redone and cholestrol and lipids are in range as are all liver function tests except ALT which is now 45. What can I do to lower my ALT back into normal range?

I have fatty liver apparently mine is caused by polycystic ovary syndrome. I was told to lose weight which actually made my liver higher on blood tests. I then started on natural diuretics such as milk thistle which helps reduce the inflammation in your liver and turmeric which helps keep your liver in check and now my results have went to borderline and have lowered xx

Interestingly about a month ago I started taking a turmeric supplement plus a supplement called livercare which contains milk thistle. How long after taking did your ALT come down.

I think it was around 4 or 5 months before it began to come down and now its borderline. I do occasionally get the odd inflammation and liver pain and occasionally an increase in my bloods but then it subsides. I also quit having any alcohol not even on occasions around a year ago to xxx

Thanks @NorthMumOfTwo maybe I just need to be a bit more patient then. Just worried me when it seemed to be going up not down even though I've lost weight, eating better etc...
Were you ever referred for a fibroscan?

I've had a normal liver scan but not a fibroscan. And sometimes losing weight can make your results peak that's what happened to me but then they eventually levelled out. Has the docs gave you a reason to why you have a fatty liver etc? Xx

Not really it was found incidentally during blood tests and ultrasound for something else. They just said lose weight cos I am overweight and drink within recommended limits. So I looked up best diets for fatty liver and changed my diet that way. I had already started more exercise eating better a month before I found out about the fatty liver. Thats strange not heard that results can peak after losing weight but good news that yours came down then.

Yes often your body after losing so much weight can release higher inflammation markers which in turn make your liver results higher than when you started. I was overweight ( still am ) I lost 2st6lb and was in severe pain with liver and had 3 blood tests in the same week showing my liver was working much harder and my enzyme marker was high. Then it all just calmed down thankfully. Try and lose weight slowly but steadily as I lost it all rather quickly due to another health problem. Also take your mill thistle and turmeric religiously and you will start to see improvements honestly, I've been battling this for about 8 years now xxx
