Hello, for two years I have suffered from a stabbing pain on the left of my abdomen. I have had pretty much every test under the sun. First I was referred to a gynaecologist consultant who did a hsyteroscopy etc etc and gave me the all clear gynaecologically. He then referred me on to a colorectal surgeon to make sure I didn't have a hernia or bowel problem. Through him, I have had an MRI, a CT scan as well as a colonoscopy. To my relief I was given the all clear from the point of view of not having any cancerous growths in the abdomen. Last week, I had to go to A&E as I could hardly walk with the pain and they suspected diverticulitis and sent me home with antibiotics. I returned to see my colorectal surgeon who said it couldn't be diverticulitis as my bloods showed no inflammation at all so he gave me the all clear on that front. He did a second CT scan and could see no inflamed diverticula. However, I still have had terrible pain - like a stabbing pain to the left of my navel which wakes me up at night and which is constant all the time. I am taking lots of pain killers but don't want to carry on taking strong painkillers to deal with this. This weekend, I read about something called ACNES which is a trapped nerve in the abdominal wall. I read that treatment for this is either pain management through pills or a steroid injection straight into site of pain. Does anybody else have experience of this and if so, how did you treat the pain? Did you have success and can you recommend somebody who deals with this? I would be so grateful for any tips at all.
