Tipped a mug of freshly hot herbal tea down me, burnt my leg, arm, boob and stomach.
leg and boob seem ok, arm is a bit stingy but I think it’ll be ok.
worried about the one on my stomach as it’s still quite an angry red an hour later.
it seems to just be superficial no blistering.
do I need to get it checked or is there anything I can do at home?

I believe the general advice is to seek medical attention for a burn bigger than the size of your palm.

But given it's not blistered, I'd say, keep it cool (cool flannels, not ice) and see how it goes.

Looks alright to me - it hasn't blistered, and going red is normal.

Due to the odd positioning I'd recommend getting a flannel or hand towel and soak it in cold water - this'll reduce the heat and help the burn itself; assuming you can't soak the actual area directly in cold water which would be preferable.

Pop to the pharmacy and get some burn cream tomorrow, and the pharmacist will be perfect to give some further advice on self care going forwards.

A&E or out of hours GP won't do anything with it as it is, which is good :)

My daughter scalded her hand a few weeks ago. When we went to the hospital the next day and we said how painful it was they said next time put clingfilm on it, so that might be worth trying for the stinging....

Retrievemysanity · 21/05/2022 21:53

I’ve done this before. I put a tea towel soaked in cold water on it for ages and then put sudocreme on it overnight and it was fine in the morning. I’ll caveat this by saying no idea if that’s the right thing to do or not but it worked for me!

MayBeee · 21/05/2022 21:55

Could you put an unopened bag of frozen veg on it ?

CornishPorsche · 21/05/2022 21:59

No, that's a clean and smooth burn, no blisters or bleeding.

If you have a late night pharmacy open, I highly recommend Burnshield Hydrogel dressings for pain relief - we used them on DH with phenomenal effect after a bad burn to his hand during lockdowns. Absolutely amazing, totally turned the pain off for him in a few minutes and stayed that way.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 21/05/2022 22:00

I once drained a pan of veg all down my legs and DH had to peel off my steaming, stuck to me jeans. I did have some blisters but couldn’t face A&E so just covered in cold flannels which I kept wringing out.

Could you wet some and place in freezer for a few minutes?

Unless the skin is broken I would manage at home

Thanks everyone, took some paracetomal last night and kept a cool flannel on it.
It looks much the same today but is just v sensitive so will pick up something from pharmacy today.
Was on my own so after crying for half hour I just wanted a bit of advice about what to do for best so thank you lovely MNers 💐
