I would welcome an opinion on this prescription. Specifically, on whether to get glasses or not. It's for my 5yo son.

Right eye - sph +2.00
Left eye - sph +1.50

My reason for asking is the two opticians were a bit on the fence!

Not an optician but a mother who never noticed that DD had a mild squint. As a result it got a lot better on its own. I would say that if opticians aren’t sure, don’t do it but monitor his vision and ask teacher to keep a watch on it too

The long version is, ds failed the screening test at school and was referred to the hospital. He tested better at hosp and they said that if he'd tested like this at school, he would not have been referred. But after being tested today and much conferring, the hospital opticians decided that 'yes' he should have glasses. But as it was so on the fence I thought I'd ask on here.

They were saying things about his eyes being developing still so don't want one weaker than the other. And as gets older he could become more short sighted naturally, and might find he only need them for the board and concentrating on things.

If it’s going to prevent one eye being weaker than the other I would get the glasses

He is long sighted and his eyes may improve slightly over time as he grows. I would probably get the glasses as it will help when he is doing close work/reading.
