Hi all

I've had IBS for a number of years.
18 months ago I had 24 hrs with a bad IBS attack where I was on and off the loo and sometimes it was just mucus. Nothing like that since.

Thursday night I brought some peanuts something I don't normally eat. Had a few too many. Friday morning bad IBS and he same passing just mucus a few times. The last couple of trips to the loo had blood streaks in the mucus.

I feel OK now but have taken buscopan since Friday.

Is this something I should speak to GP about.
Rationally I'm thinking if it was anything serious it wouldnt have go away for so long.

Ah yes, fondly known as "poo-cus" in this house.

I get it fairly frequently, only ever had it red or pink after a particularly bad bout and once with campylobacter - but a friend mentioned that he's repeatedly had tests for blood streaked mucus over the years and it's never shown anything.

Always wise to have a word with your GP of course, but I think it's common in IBS sufferers and the odd bit of blood is not sinister (usually, fissures, straining etc). The one person I knew who had bowel cancer, had been passing a lot - a LOT - of blood with his stool, consistently, for two years before seeing his GP.

Interested in peanuts causing you a problem, for me it was cashews!
