How meaningful are BMI charts for children??

because according to this site ds1 has a bmi of 20.1 and ds2 has a bmi of 18.3, putting them both at risk of becomming overweight. I work SO hard to keep them healthy and I am quite upset at this as it means I am failing.

I don't want false reassurances, btw, I don't want you to think I'm looking for that. I want reality because that's the only way I can address any issues. But I just don't see weight on either boy - ds1 used to be chubby, but I have worked on that and he's slimmed right down!

ds1 is 4ft6 and weight 5st 13, and ds2 is 4ft2 and weight 4st9 btw. both stable at that weight as I want to grow them into it, iyswim. Does that sound worrying to you? Be honest.

i've not idea but doesn't it really depend on whether you're child is big for their age or not?

How old are your dcs? My ds (he's only 20mo) is at the 98th percentile of grow charts, but then he is for his height as well. He's always been big, and i guess he will continue to be so, both myself and my dh are tall and not skinny minnies (although neither of us are fat).

depending on theihr age i think you could be over worrying and possibly making them develop a distorted view of weights and eating.

oops

ds1 is 8 and ds2 is 7
