Any long term treatment for ingrown eyelashes?

My left eye is prone to ingrown eyelashes due to meibomian gland dysfunction. Every few weeks or so they end up scratching the eye surface and inflamming the whole eyelid and causing a lot of pain, blurred vision and some eye damage now.

They're only very tiny and not like regular eyelashes. Dh managed to remove an offending one last night after three days of increasing pain. Does anyone know if there are longer term treatments to destroy the eyelashes and the root or something? I am under the eye hospital for allergic blepharitis, but all they do is remove them.

Not sure if it's exactly the same, but DH had an operation to tighten his eyelid a little which turned the eyelashes out slightly as his were rubbing.

I have them also. Every so often I have to remove them with tweezers but since I have got older and my eyesight is not as sharp as it was it is becoming harder for me to do it. I have to use a magnifying mirror. They also grow right in the corners of my eyes as well and are so tiny it is hard to see them.

I never thought it was a medical problem until I read your post OP

I also have them and they are a big problem. I had a corneal ulcer as a result of one a few weeks ago and have since had another abrasion. I have tried electrolysis but they have still grown back (or others have appeared). I have to go to A&E at the eye hospital regularly for epilation but would love a long term solution.

I've seen an operation on YouTube where they excised the skin around the root and removed the whole thing so the hair can't grow back.

That sounds really good. I'd be up for that if it was offered.
