i started to see a physio a few months back ive seen him3 times now and hes given me exercises to do
i dont know what ive done to my knee and i dont think he knows either. my knee is twisted and he thinks i may have torn the tendon and its healed around the knee joint moving it out of place

what do you think the next step would be

gemma - usually they give you exercises to strengthen the muscles in order to stabilise the joint. I had ultrasound on mine too. This followed on from some surgery I had - supposedly to remove the cartlidge (years ago they don't generally remove anymore - repair instead) However it turned out not to be the cartlidge, it was scar tissue from ligament damage affecting the tracking of the kneecap (I think). So sounds similar to you.

Am about to find out, because right knee increasingly painful for the last year - started whilst pg with dd2, aggravated by daily kneeling/standing from sitting etc carrying dd2. Thought it was a touch of arthritis, but whatever it is its getting worse so am going to get it checked - very useful to hear what to expect!

Gemma, my stepmother had a painful knee and in the end, when physio didn't shift it, she had keyhole surgery on the cartilage and then physio, and is now fine and walking up mountains again. Hope yours gets better soon.

I have - in hindsight it's linked to a wider joint problem I have but at the time it was thought to be a partially dislocating knee cap. It's come back recently. The physio gave me strengthening exercises and also strapped it (with tape directly to the skin) - so instead of going abck to the physio now I'm giving all of that another go. I would say it took about 8-10 weeks of the exercises before I really noticed a difference before so maybe you need to persevere?
