Lump in breast but clinic won’t give appointment

Hi everyone, I’m at my wits end so I thought I would try and get support through here! I found quite a large lump in my breast a couple of weeks ago- almost like a flat lump with a round lump on top. It’s quite visible too. I went to my GP who referred me under the 2 week wait. A few days later I rang the hospital booking line to chase my appointment and was told “there’s a backlog, in about 6 weeks you’ll be put on a waiting list” and “it is what it is…” Horrified, I changed hospital. This hospital gave me an appointment date then cancelled it as I’d been booked into the over 35 clinic (I am 35 but apparently need to be booked on the under 35 one!) I’m ringing every day for a cancellation but there isn’t any and I’m going out of my mind! Has anyone got any tips on how to speed up getting booked in?
thank you xx

Op you've done the right thing contacting Pals. I know someone who deals with complaints to pals and it will be looked into I can assure you. I think this is totally appalling that women have to wait longer than two weeks for a fast track breast appt.

@Tanfastic i went through the “contact pals” route rather than the complaint route and I said I was wondering if they could help before I complain- hopefully they won’t want me to complain and they’ll sort! Regardless of my outcome I just can’t help but feel a sense of panic for all the women out there who are having months of torture waiting x

Glad you have contacted PALS.

I had a two week fast track referral for a breast lump just under a month ago. It was 9 days from seeing the GP to the appointment at the breast clinic.

All was okay, but an absolutely horrible wait and I'm not sure I could have waited much longer than I did. I definitely understand your anxiety and fraustration with the situation. 💐
