Anyone thinking of trying the Wim Hof method?

Very interested in the idea of cold water improving circulation, immunity etc.

Downloaded the Wim Hof app and have tried the breathing and have done a couple of 15 second cold showers, which weren't that bad.

Anyone else?

Why wouldn’t you believe them?

I turn the shower right down for the last 3 minutes (which happens to coincide with my rinsing my conditioner). Worked up from 30 seconds. It’s not exactly challenging in the grand scheme of things……

Because these are the same people that will not go in the sea unless it’s 30 degrees. Even then they won’t get their hair wet.

i have a water phobia so you wouldn’t catch me in the sea getting my hair wet in any circumstances.

I’ve still done the cold showers (for years now).

Yes, I've just managed after a week to get up to a minute in a cold shower. Also rinsing my hair with cold water after washing and it makes it lovely and glossy.
I seem to be sleeping much better.

It's ok but you just need to build it up really slowly.

I've started by putting an extra ice cube in my G & T.

Don't do the breathing, do do cold baths. Think you have to be careful with breathing exercises to do them correctly. Done wrong people can pass out. Not very dangerous if you do cold water with you getting in with the bath empty and fill whilst you in it. I have found I did acclimatise - felt really icy when I started just cool now.

Again started a few years ago.

And perhaps if you are well acclimatised to cold water you are less likely to suffer cold shock? Not particularly planning on testing it though.

Love love cold water sea swimming started 2-yrs ago and I’ve done through two winters now. Its 90% women aged 40+ at my beach all reaping the benefits it’s fab.

Ha ha second that. Extra ice cube made me laugh thank you!
also James Bond used to do this years ago ( in the books) worked for him!

I’m interested in this but have a question that so far no one has been able to explain/answer to me…. SO, they claim that Wim Hoff is good for your parasympathetic nervous system however surely the act of showering/swimming in cold water will stimulate the sympathetic nervous system which is of course a stress response which is supposedly not good for health? I’d really like to give it a go but till I have an answer to this feel I’d rather not. Would be really grateful if someone was able to provide an answer!!!!!
