Vertigo with dizziness and sickness, any tips?

I started feeling dizzy on Sunday. As I was on my own the doctor I spoke to called an ambulance out. I did start to feel sick and walking was difficult. At a and e they did ecg, blood tests, lying and standing blood pressure and all came back normal. The consultant I saw said vertigo caused by inner ear problems and I had an injection and got a prescription. Seriously though I never thought vertigo was this bad! I have been physically sick most of yesterday and not eaten a thing. I have to carry a bowl with me everywhere. I have been told by the consultant if the tablets don't work in three days to go back for another injection. Has anyone out there gone through this and what is the best thing to do?

Stemetil injection? Did they give you the tablets to continue at home? Also what was determined as the root cause I.e. the cause of inner ear disruption?

I had this.

I was in the park with the dog and i bent down to pick up his ball. When i stood up i felt drunk.

I tried to walk straight but felt like i was staggering. I got home and threw up. I couldn't let anyone sit beside me as any movement felt like i was riding a rough sea.
I couldn't work or drive for a week as my head was so fuzzy.

I can't offer any advice on what helps as it was a few years ago now.

Was put down to Labirynthitis.

There is Meniers which has similar symptoms.

Yes to then injection and I am on prochlorperazine maleate 2 tablets three times a day and I have a 7 day prescription as the hospital wouldn't give the 14 day amount. He didn't say exactly but said liquid in inner ear and mentioned BPPV which I had seen when looking up dizziness when moving head. He did say the movement treatment doesn't suit all and if it comes back to get an ear nose and throat appointment as they are booking again now after covid has declined enough.

Vertigo is horrible. I often get it after a virus, I also get it with SVT but they have ecg'd you so probably not that.
Try to move your head as little as possible and very, very slowly.

The first time I had this (labyrinthitis) I had the same - A&E, anti nausea jabs, same drugs. It took about 5 days to clear, amd I couldn't believe how awful it was.

The best advice I have is to just give in to it, just be horizontal and don't move too much.

I still get it periodically, triggered by either being run-down or travel-sick.

If it persists past a week or returns do ensure you go directly down the ENT route.

I had this after an anxiety attack last year coupled with the physical symptoms of what you described. Mine last 4-6 weeks but I noticed my anxiety latched onto the fear. I was told
To only Take the prochloperazine for a few days as your mind gets used to it so if you can try for only days. Also you have to train your brain to rewire it's self again.

The best thing that helped me and reduced my dizziness was this and you have to do it every day.

Hope this helps and you find relief soon x

Osteopath was the only thing that sorted this for my mum and MIL

There are so many causes of vertigo and probably your cause is different from mine so needs different management. I get it with my hay fever and as soon as I notice the first signs I drink loads and loads of water because dehydration makes it much worse for me. I have to act quite quickly because once it's bad enough to give me motion sickness it becomes very hard to hydrate properly as I mostly throw up any water that I drink.

I had this while pregnant, GP said labyrinthitis and I had the injection which helped as I couldn’t even keep water down.
I then had it a couple of years later and spoke to a different GP who suggested it could be migraines and prescribed bucostem which helped lot with the sickness and reduced the dizziness.
In my case it seemed to come on after eating pineapple, I have now cut this out of my diet and (fingers crossed) haven’t had it since.

Its horrible and I hope you find something that works for you

I have had this and was on those same tablets, they do work and you should start feeling better soon. I remember when I was a bit better there was a strange crackle in my ear and I suddenly felt a lot better
