High blood pressure/kidney disease

I would really appreciate any advice.

I have always had quite high BP, but on having a 24 hour monitor it was found to be okay. So the docs said it was anxiety at being at the surgery.

However, when I went last time it was 149/106 and the GP was concerned. I assured him it was never like that at home and as I have a machine he advised me to keep checking it.

Now he said a blood test has come back as having kidney disease. But then he checked my urine and said it was all fine so I haven't and there is no need for a scan or anything, he'll just check my levels again in a year.

I have been checking my BP at home and the bottom number is rarely under a 100 first time taking it. If I sit down for 10 mins I can get it to 123/86 which is okay but I am always on my feet so it must always be high. I only have to think about BP and I feely my heart racing etc.

Now I have started to get niggly pains in both my sides under my ribs and I am convinced it is my kidneys.

I am so so scared. Am due back at docs next week so I will let him know how I feel but any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also any tips of lowering blood pressure. I never add salt, and am trying to lose weight (BMI 26) but any help would be lovely.

Thank you.

It sounds like you have white coat syndrome and your BP goes up when you know its going to be taken, if your 24 monitoring was ok I wouldn't worry just have regualr checks.

From the kidney disease pov, all patients of GPs that have or are suspected to have a chronic condition such as high BP with have kidney function done, in the vast majority of patients the results will come back showing there is a certain amount of disease or failure BUT these tests are done primarily because they earn the GPs alot of points and points mean prizes i'm afraid. It is likey that you fit into this category but if you are concerned go back and see them again.

Thank you.

I am going back next week anyway.

Do you know if the tests sometimes come back showing kidney disease on blood tests but it's not accurate? Because my urine dipstick was clear for protein.
