I'm so fed up. I had a partial knee replacement last October and was recovering well, walking without a limp and could even kneel if I was very careful how I did it. Physio input post-discharge was just one appointment, at which I was given a stick, but I did do the exercises as instructed when I was in hospital. The consultant was delighted with my progress at my discharge appointment.
About a month ago, the pain returned, same place (upper medial, R knee). It returned suddenly, I just got up one morning and it really hurt. If anything, it is worse than before and feels hot, but doesn't appear inflamed. It's worse when I put weight on it or bend it and feels very "clicky" if I put my hand on it it and bend the joint. I hadn't done any kneeling, gardening, long walks or anything that was likely to aggravate it in any way for at least a fortnight beforehand.
I feel like I'm back to square one. I can't walk far again (especially downhill or down steps). If anything, walking downhill is more painful than it was pre-op. My knee now has a clicking sensation when I bend it and has less flexion than it had at 6 weeks post-op. The only improvement is that it doesn't give way on me any more like it used to.
I am so pissed off about it and dreading having to have further surgery. It took far longer for me recover than thought, was fare more disabling than I realised and because I live alone, I had to go and stay with friends for 2 weeks afterwards.
Anyone had anything similar? And did it require more surgery?
Any advice or shared experience most welcome. Tx.
