Psoriasis

Psoriasis runs in my family. My granny had it quite badly. I had a little bit of it when I was a teenager on my scalp. It seemed to have cleared from my scalp though.

A few years ago - about 4 years ago, I noticed my knees had white scaly bits and it looked like there was some red underneath the white scaly patches.

I did absolutely nothing with these knees. I never treated this. It didn't get bigger and it never went away.

I started wearing shorts again last week and I decided to do something about these patches. I bought an over the counter gel. It's adex-gel. I still didn't get around to using it until today. This morning I woke up and one of my knees were sore. I am yet to establish what the pain is from. I really don't think it is the joint that is sore. The pain is on and off and the pain is more aggressive when my clothes is draping on top of my knees. So my pyjamas this morning followed by pants. I am now wearing a dress and it's ok. There is still some pain at times.

Can psoriasis get sore and painful?

You can get arthritic psoriasis… I’d suggest going to see a doctor rather than treating it yourself
to be honest. Good luck.

My Psoriasis is always worse at this time of year.

I have both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

I think it's important for you to see your GP (and start the referral process as neccesary) and start medications that will hopefully stop this getting any worse.

My preferred medications are Enstilar foam and Doublebase for my skin. Others are available.

My joints are now quite damaged (I'm probably a lot older than you ) but are massively helped by one of the new range of Biologics. There's lot of help and preventative treatment out there these days that I wish I'd had access to when I was younger.

Good luck with your GP - I know some are better than others, and more available than others.

Ok I am just after pressing on my knee and applying some pressure. The pain I am experiencing is not from clothes or pressure. Seems to be more nerve related.

I will make a doctors appointment for next week
