My child had been told to do the 7 day intense sachets. Starting with 2 on day one and ending with 8 on day 7.

the doctor has told me my child will be fine to go into school, yet I’ve been told by many parents who’ve used it and done the 7 day ones that their children had to be off of school because of all the poo accidents they were having due to it being watery etc.

my doctor seems to just be flippant about the whole thing and isn’t bothered that my child could poo herself in front of all her friends!

I’m a single parent and I’ve literally just started a new job 2 weeks ago, so there is no way I can take off what would essentially be roughly a week already ( I work in a preschool, so can’t just take holiday)

Would it be unreasonable for me to suggest to the doctor that we hold it off until the half term when we are both off?

Also just wanted to know if anyone else has done this and how bad the poo accidents were etc? I don’t want my child to end up more traumatised going to the loo.

Thanks if you got this far!

If they have prescribed such an intense amount of movicol then your child definitely needs it for good reason and holding off would be the totally wrong thing to do. You should get it done without delay to avoid future problems and worsening of the current problem.

My son was on Movicol and I'd personally wait until half term unless they're in pain!

Also the Facebook group Movicol Mummies is the BEST for all of this advice

My son has been through the impaction movicol regime twice and both times we did it in school holidays with the consultant's/ nurse's agreement. Have you got any other medical involvement other than GP for advice?

At the time he was still in pull ups but there was definitely leekage the first time that would have been difficult for school to deal with. Also, when they need to go they have to go then and we found this was easier at home.
