Nits/lice: would I know if I had them?

I doubt I have, because dd isn't itching her head and none are reported at pre-school, but I've had an occasionally itchy scalp recently. If it goes on, I'll comb and check - but the Nitty Gritty tears my hair something orrible, so would rather not if am being paranoid.

Very silly lightweight ? but, if I had them, would they itch badly? All the time? More at certain times?

Sometimes there is no itching. You would find it easier to use the nit comb on wet hair with conditioner.

Rats. Thanks - will try (though thats what tore my hair last time, maybe can use a normal comb for detection purposes).

Normal combs are useless, eli. Keep persevering with the nit comb. You'll get used to it

Elibean · 10/01/2008 17:23

Oh, I meant a nit comb - just not a Nitty Gritty one!

can someone check your scalp for signs of them? Base of neck and around ears are usually where they like to hide!

DH can, but he'll need his reading glasses I imagine...also, neither of us have ever seen any and aren't sure what we're looking for: small moving specks and/or white/grey teeny eggs?

Not sure why I'm suspicious, except dd had friend over at New Year who'd had them fairly recently - mother said she was clear of them, though.
