What could this strange ailment be?

On Friday I drove for 6h with air con on (had small DS in back who really feels heat) and when I got home I felt absolutely rotten. This then progressed into feeling freezing cold and shivering and having to curl up under a blanket with two jumpers on. Didn't want to eat anything and went to bed. All night kept waking up shivering and couldn't work up the energy to take painkillers. All my joints were really hurting especially my back/hips and my hands. Saturday morning finally got up and took some paracetamol which made me break out in a sweat and suddenly boiling but able to sleep. Slept all day Saturday but each time painkillers wore off I was freezing cold. I have the joint aches still but no other symptoms, no sore throat, no cough or cold symptoms. I've done 3 covid tests and all negative.

Basically all I want to do is sleep and I'm either boiling hot (when I take painkillers) or freezing cold (when they wear off) but I don't have a temp.

Any idea what this could be?

Sounds like Covid especially with the headache - can you take a PCR? My son had 3 negative lft but tested positive on pcr

@AintNoMoneyHoneyBee PCR tests are no longer available for free in England so doesn't look like I can. I'll keep testing lateral flow tho as I agree it does sound like covid.

Ah didn't know that. Hope you feel better soon

Urgh so I still have this. It's no better, but no worse. I just have to take constant painkillers in order to function and look after my children. Never felt this awful before.

A bad virus can hang around for ages, keep taking pain killers and drinking lots. Feel better soon .

It’s only been 4 days, viruses linger for a while. Hope you feel better soon.

It does sound like covid to me. I had all the symptoms you describe but never tested positive.

You should feel better soon though. Just rest as much as you can and eat good food.

I've got it as well and am thinking more a flu virus than Covid. Have managed to test once but can't do anymore as my nose is so swollen and sore.

I did a few hours of weeding on Saturday and thought the aches and pains were from that but woke up Saturday morning with a full blown cold. I had to go to bed on Saturday and Monday to get warm and am sat in bed now wrapped up like a mummy as I'm so cold. I went to work this morning and got slightly better as the day has gone one but have now lost my voice. This is how I imagined Covid would be but when I had it a few weeks ago I had none of these symptoms.

Hope you feel better soon - keep on taking the tablets.
