Is this mole something to worry about

I have a lot of moles on my body. They are all over my body.

Today is the first day of the year wearing shorts and I was feeling my leg and I felt a little bump. It's right in under a mole on my leg. The mole is not dark or black in colour. It is brown with a lighter coloutin the middle. Kinda like a blueish grey in the middle of the mole. I do t shave my legs so an infection or an ingrown hair is probably unlikely.

I have no expertise whatsoever but after thinking I had a 'scar' for many years I was shocked to discover it was a skin cancer (non-scary kind). Best thing is to get an expert to look at it.

I get regular checks on my moles because my mum died of melanoma. I am told that anything that looks like the odd one out amongst other moles needs checking out.

In all likelihood, it's fine but far safer to get it checked out.

Come to think of it, I was feeling this bump for some time but under trousers. I think even last year I was feeling a bump in this location I never really thought anything else of this really until today.

Is this a job for the GP. Should I be making an appointment for next week.

Ring and tell the receptionist, dh git a same day appt for a dodgy looking mole . Turned out to be nothing. It's never wrong to get them checked out.

SpindleInTheWind · 29/04/2022 17:07

Yes, please do get it checked out. I have skin cancer and it's really good to catch these things early because the treatments are so very effective in the vast majority of cases.

In other words, even if it's 'something' you can get it dealt with.

... and stay out of the sun Smile

I used to be careless in the sun when I was younger but I changed my ways over the past 15 years or so. I practice sun safety now. I avoid the sun as best I can. When I am out in it I wear sunscreem and I now have a cover up with SPF qualities in the fabric. Ordered from a site called solbari.
