Lips suddenly hyper-sensitive

For the last couple of years, my lips have been getting steadily more sensitive.
I would say at least every 4 weeks my lips go tingly, almost like they're burning and then they start to peel. They're so sore.
I very rarely if ever wear lip productsa and I drink loads of water.
So two qs.
1/ has anyone had anything similar happen? What was the cause?
2/ has anyone got product suggestions to 'calm' the area and prevent it peeling and/or hurry the healing process up!

Yes!!! And had a massive allergic to toothpaste the other week too. Can't use any lip balm other than pure paraffin/petroleum

Started when I used a No7 lipstick a couple of weeks ago.

Mine have always been like that. I hate it. I think there’s one lip balm l can use and I any wear any ( even hypoallergenic) lipstick.

I used to put lip balm under lipstick at one point, but that’s stopped working.

I use Protopic from Gp when it’s really bad. It got much worse after menopause.

I had what sounds like that when I'd just given birth, the pharmacist recommended Vitamin B.

Be a bit careful, it could be food allergy reactions beginning. Try and pay attention to when it happens- after nuts, garlic, strawberries.... see if you can find a common denominator. I have a friend who's allergic to tree fruit.

The itching then peeling is caused by swelling.

Mine don’t swell though. Not even a bit. They just itch and then peel.

I’ve had a lot of medical appts lately which has meant wearing masks. They definitely make it worse.

Thanks everyone, for your suggestions.
I don't experience swelling luckily.
I'm going to have to make a GP appointment as it's getting ridiculous!
