No i'm not, but I did read some research into fish oils, apparently they are equally as effective as anti depressants in treating anxiety and depression, plus they are non addictive. I was on diaxepam and fluoxetine a couple of years ago, and yes they did take the edge off, but I only lasted a few months but did not like taking them at all. I'm not depressed now but I do get anxious, or did, I take fish oils and I promise you they put a spring in your step. I really do feel that they help, and you don't need to be on them for weeks for them to make a difference. The ones you want are the ones that contain EPA and DHA. Sainsbury's do 1 a day fish oils with both of those in and they aren't expensive, a couple of quid for a months supply. Also buy some lavender oil from holland and barrat, put a few drops on your pillow - it calms you and helps you sleep. I sleep quite deeply when I do that.
Don't feel that you have to get trapped in the cycle of medication. I do believe that doctors can help with certain illnesses, but with depression, being hooked on pills for years just leads to a spiral of addiction and numbness, good luck!

I took them for migraine. They weren't as bad as I expected - cold extremities (which I already had) did for me in the end. The ones for BP are usually longer acting.

If your dr thinks you need them, why not give them a try, you can always come off them if you do have problems.

I've been on beta blockers for a couple of years. Always had quite high blood pressure since I had pre eclampsia with my twins in 1981. I started having really bad panic attacks a while ago and was given them. They have made big difference to me. Yes - I read the side effects to - but I am much better on them.

I've been on beta blockers for a long time along with other medication for high blood pressure I have numerous other health problems as well including depression and anxiety. On monday when I ran out of beta blockers my levels of anxiety became really bad (shaking etc) so I guess there having more of an effect than I thought. No real side effects well not any that I have noticed.

Hi Been on beta blockers for over 20 years for severe anxiety. These drugs have probably saved my life as before I started taking them in my early 20's my life was crippled with social phobia and wanted to kill myself. If I take more than usual then I do get very tired which is the only side effect I have had.
Hope that helps.

I've been on them for 7 years for high blood pressure, and I do think they've helped me feel less anxious as well. No side effects whatsoever for me- unlike the ghastly Methyldopa I took before, that was turning me into a depressed zombie. The only side effect with the beta blockers is I really can't drik: more than one glass of wine and I'm straight into the hangover.

My GP tried me on them 2 years ago for a tremor. It helped with the shaking but not the muscle tension, its caused by dystonia. I didn't like them, felt like a robot. But they can help with some things. I am on clonazepam instead now but like valium you get really grumpy when it is beginning to wear off and I also can't drink hardly anything. I can imagine they would help with anxiety but try some psychological approaches alongside. Maybe yoga, or exercise if you can face it / make time for it. Even a short daily walk can really help.
