Can I use an old mouthguard?

Any dentists/dental nurses or similar who may know if I can reuse an old mouthguard..? I had one fitted by a dentist 15ish years ago, worked well, stopped stressing after a few years, but now stress is back... I recognise the symptoms of grinding in the morning.

I used my now very old mouthguard last night and it just feels so very tight - slightly painful when I woke up. I do remember that it felt tight and painful when it was first fitted too, so it may be that I've just forgotten that that's what it's like, but I'm also wondering if it could be that my teeth have changed so I might be causing more damage by using this old thing... Any advice would be so welcome :-) It was so expensive to get one that it'd be great of course if I could just continue with this one...

After 15 years you might need a new impression.
