I keep telling myself that it's very unlikely to be anything sinister but had to wait a month to be seen (from a 2 week fast track referral 😡).
Anyone have experience of male breast pain? My husband is nearly 40, has a "dad bod".
About 6 months ago he started with a pain behind his left nipple area. It doesn't hurt to until it is pressed, or knocked or he leans on it in bed.
Been to the gp twice, they said they couldn't feel any lumps but that breast was fuller. The pain has stayed the same or even got slightly worse over the past 6 months. He cannot remember any trauma to the area or pulling a muscle etc.

Will he recieve the same checks as a woman would? Ultrasound, mammogram etc and will be he be told results on the same day?

The staff will be wonderful.. he will be supported and everything will be explained fully with all his questions answered.
There are a lot of men attending breast clinics and they receive the same care as the women.

I don't suppose i am able to attend with him? Covid rules and all that

GP here, OP. Yes, he'll have the same checks as a woman would, depending on what is found on examination.
Breast cancer in men is rare, and breast pain is rarely a presenting symptom of it - it most usually presents as a painless lump.
Hope all goes well for you both tomorrow Flowers

My dh had some lumps come up his chest around his nipple and the clinic were amazing. He had a mammogram and another check (can't remember now, it was several year ago) His was diagnosed as gynaecomastia

You may not be officially allowed to go but my latest experience at the breast clinic was waiting in one area, then another for scan, another for biopsies, another for doctor. My DH kept popping by with our baby for feeds then would go back to the coffee shop. So that's an option.

I've had a male family member have breast cancer and I'm sure your DH will be in great hands tomorrow. Really hope it goes well Flowers

He's been given the all clear. They think it's gynecomastia caused by him taking omeoprezole. We weren't aware of this link & it's not mentioned on the medication leaflet, but the consultant said he sees many men and the link is always omeoprezole. I've googled it and there is a link!

I'm so pleased it's nothing serious. It's a relief when they let you know what it's is. I still remember it now several years later.
