Not sure what to do about my throat / tonsil?

A few years ago I had horrendous tonsillitis. I ended up in hospital on an antibiotic drip and since, have had quite scarred tonsils.

I woke up a few weeks ago with a VERY sore throat and was really scared to see a white spot on the sore tonsil - so went to the GP who gave me antibiotics.

I was rubbish with my antibiotics (something I’m usually really strict about) and didn’t take them regularly and not even sure if I finished the course. I know this was really stupid, I’d be the first one to tell me off.

This week since Sunday, after eating the roof of my mouth feels really swollen and sore (it doesn’t look swollen but looks red), kind of throbs, not sure if this is even related?!

I have a bit of a sore throat as well so just looked and still had the white spot on my tonsil…

I actually think it was tonsil stones as I just spent a bit of time basically getting white “stuff” Envy out of my tonsil and now can see there’s a big hole in my tonsil where it all was Sad.

I don’t know whether the sore mouth after eating is related and regardless, if I need to go back to the GP for another course of antibiotics?

I literally just got home from a GP appointment about something else an hour ago so feel silly phoning them today.

That's a tough one, really. Do any over the counter treatments help with the soreness so you can see if it resolves itself? Salt water rinses, oragel, things like that?

Ask the chemist to take a look.
You may have oral thrush which I have found happens after anti-biopics and throat issues.
They may be able to give you something without going back to the GP, but failing that, do call your Dr.

Don't feel silly. Get on to the gp. In the meantime time chlorhexidine mouthwash and alternate with difflam mouthwash. Should soothe your mouth while you wait to find out what's going on.

Sounds horrible. Hope you get it sorted soon.
