Are nurses meant to give water jugs to NBM patients?

Just that really.

He can’t swallow well and the saline drip was beside the bed.

It's very complex. Nbm is often for surgery when water is allowed. A saline drip is common for many patients is not a message to a nurse to not give them water. Drinking has more benefits than a drip. If swallow is an issue then they would be assessed by a speach and language therapist and usually yogurt textured foods are the easiest. They should have a plan and it be clear in the notes if a jug of water is safe.

He has a goitre obstructing the airway. Salt have been and advised a feeding tube as he couldn’t get fortisip juice down.
