Has anyone succesfully got rid of their muffin top?

i am normal sized (12) but have this ring around my hips that is gross. I have a bad back so cant run do aerobics etc but walk loads and am starting pilates tonight but I REALLY want to get rid of it. Anyone managed this succesfully?Or am I the only one with it

thanks all...Forgot to say i dont eat lard and have lived on basically ww points since having dd (4) So food idnt the problem. I like being curvy as i used to look like a size 12 version of JLO or Kimberly fron Girls aloud but now this bit in the middle stops all that boo hoo. I am the master at hiding it and always wear longline t shirts outside of trousers and buy good fitting jeans. Just makes me so fed up. If i could afford it i would get it sucked away. I would actually love to run but it hurts way too much grrrr!!

Glad i am not alone

Oh I think I may have been unintentionally misleading then..my body was like theirs ..neck up not bad but not quite like jlo ...lol ..sorry

I do eat in general real food although if I do eat snacks they will be of the low fat variety.
I mainly eat alot of veg and fat free soups to keep my weight under control as the women on my dads side are al a little Dawn French..As much as she is beautiful I do not want to look like her.

i will look into that theory though hanaflower.

It comes and goes TBH. Most of the time it's virtually invisible but I'm aware of it, occassionally it's not there (I was ill and didn't eat for a week before christmas and it went then - don't recommend it though) and sometimes it returns in all it's glory! Usually I find it's regular reasonably vigorous exercise that makes the most difference rather than diet.

I have a problem with my upper back and shoulders and my coccyx but generally find that running does no harm at all. I've often been told by GPs and chiropractors that running isn't good - in fact all they say I can do is swimming but I hate swimming, so I ignore them now. I don't wish to encourage you to ignore medical advice, just to rethink it a little . Once you get a technique right and have good shoes I find that things improve rather than worsen.

thats interesting ORM. I have always had a bad back due to a very naughty pony !!! But am having treatment at the mo cause it is very painful again. I usually ignore all medical advice and do my own thing but they cost such alot of money I think maybe I should listen to them this time. I actally would love to run but it would appear my discs are all squashed (among other things!) so I dont have much spring in me.

BTW which shoes have you got ?

have just looked up my local sports centre and they do aqua fit so I think i will try that as well.

You are probably right widgy. I guess mine wasn't as bad.

I have reebok premier lite trainers. Very light (as the name suggests and quite supportive on the ankle. They suit me very well and I've had no trouble for ages. I did have quite a few ankle, shin and calf problems last year when I started but nothing for ages.

i swim. not as much as i used to because it is such a faff getting there and back. i go twice a week for half an hour (50 lengths) a time. also go for 20 min run once or twice a week. family sized muffin firmly in place but i have nice toned arms and legs. it is also a genetic thing for me, both my parents are muffiny.

thats funny fishie!!. the annoying thing is my mum is soo un muffiny. And thinner than me grrr..she is 63!!

think I will try the swimming..my parents have got a pool so no real excuse TBH. except i have very thick hair which takes ages to dry..I know I know!!

That's ok Flibbertyjibbet if you haven't got a large arse, high waisted jeans make an already shapely bum look enormous.

mmm yes but in a toss up between large muffin top or large backside then I personally go for the larger (very shapely I might add) backside rather than looking like someone stuffed a couple of sofas down the top of my trousers

Quite agree flibbertyjibbet. A big muffin top looks as if you are fat and refuse to accept it.
