Do I need to see GP/antibiotics?

I had a dose last week. It started as a sore throat and then more symptoms came like phelym and cough. There were other symptoms on and off too. All in all it was like a heavy cold. I was testing lfts at home throughout but tested negative. I isolated at home in case it was covid.

Ally symptoms are clearing now. I still have a phelym feeling at the back of the throat but it isn't as heavy. I still have a cough when I lie down at night. It is the most troublesome at night. It's horrific. My sleep is completely broken.

I am supposed to have a hospital appointment next week for an MRI for a different matter. I was referred before. I don't know how I will remain still if I am still coughing.

I need to get rid of this cough. I'm drinking plenty of fluids.
I was coughing last night and I managed to hack up the phelym and it was green. Do I need to go to my doctor for antibiotics?

If it's still green I'd see the doctor again

Usual rule of thumb is if the phlegm is green it indicates infection and may need antibiotic therapy. Have you tried "simple linctus" cough medicine?.Or if the cough is really bad something like pholcodeine linctus. The cough may persist though for upto 6 weeks after the infection clears.

The cough appears to be gone expect for night time. There is still some phelym but I am not able to hack it up. There is an improvement for the day time but I am not great at night time.

I was coughing last night and unfortunately I am also I my period so there was some major leaks last night. It was awful.

I didn't try cough medicine in case eit was covid. Apparently cough medicine isn't supposed to be great if it is covid. Cough medicine is supposed to suppress the cough but I think with covid you need to cough whatever it it up. I managed well without cough medicine.

you are unlikely to need anti biotics.
most infections, even bacterial infections go away on their own and only require symptom relief (aka rest, fluids, painkillers)

it's quite normal for a cough to linger.
try to sleep propped up.

if symptoms get worse see the gp.

hope you feel better soon.

A cough can persist for up to 6 weeks after a viral infection and still be "normal" and not need treatment

There are 3 types of cough medicines: dry cough (suppressant - stops the cough reflex), chesty cough (expectorant - helps bring up phlegm) and those that just soothe and lubricate (like simple linctus) so you should be able to find one to help

I had symptoms of a cold start nearly 2 weeks ago. It was about 12 days ago. I kept testing negative on antigen tests at home. A lot of my symptoms have cleared.

I started taking an antihistamine because there was pressure behind my ears so I thought maybe it was that. I am feeling so much more better now except for a lot of phelym. The night time cough is a little bit better. My issue now is every morning when I wake up and get up. There's phelym and pressure but once I get them cleared I am ok. On the rare occasion that I manage to hack something up the gunk is green. Just wondering if I need to go to my doctor this week.
