Exhausted & no energy

I am permanently exhausted. I have zero energy. My muscles ache. It's been like this for a few years, covid/lockdown definitely didn't help

I would happily sleep/stay in bed all day.

I've been to the GP, had lots of tests (anaemia, thyroid, vit D) - all came back normal.

I'm perimenopausal, but HRT hasn't helped this side of things (although has helped others).

Im overweight, but the idea of having the energy to exercise is laughable. I do yoga/Pilates once a week. Im trying to improve my diet/increase vegetable intake to see if that helps.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Im feeling quite down that they can't find anything wrong, because im no closer to feeling better!

I was constantly at the Drs because of exhaustion. Bloods all ‘normal’ -although normal isn’t the same as optimal. Ask reception for a print out of your blood test results. Many women don’t feel well until ferritin are the upper ranges of normal but Drs will say you are fine if you are right at the bottom of the normal range.
You can be symptomatic at the lower end of normal for things like B12, ferritin, Vitamin D.

I struggled on and on then finally, after 5 years, I was referred to the chronic fatigue team and diagnosed with CFS/ME & then fibromyalgia. It sucks. I work very, very part time but can’t get off the sofa the rest of the time, I can’t even make DC a meal.

Ask for a print out and go from there. There are lots of knowledgeable people on MN who will be able to advise you about the results.

Thank you. I'm so sorry you've had such a struggle for diagnosis. Has having a diagnosis helped? Is there anything you wish you'd known earlier?

Honestly? No, it makes no difference other than DH is now slightly more understanding about me not being able to push the hoover around!

Do get you blood test results then, if there really are no levels that can be improved upon, you could at least discuss the possibility of CFS with the GP.
