Thriva blood tests

Has anyone used Thriva blood tests? I want to get my cholesterol tested. I was just wondering if it's easy to cancel the subscription and if anyone has any experience using them.

Before anyone starts on at me that I should go to the doctor. As you know it's hard enough job getting an appointment in an emergency these days, never mind for just for something I want to know for my own Interest and as I'm only 37 it's not a blood test that is routinely done. I just want to know if it's ok.

Yes I have for the same reason. The test was really easy to do, results and advice back quickly and easy to cancel subscription. I have a £10 off referral code if you would like it.

I did one. To be honest, I found it very difficult to get enough blood out of my fingers with the lancet.

Orangesandlemons82 · 15/03/2022 10:54

@Scooby5kids I have just sent you a PM with it.

Scooby5kids · 15/03/2022 10:54

Can I also ask, how can I just select 1 test? I did some questionnaire thing and it's added loads of other tests onto the subscription. I keep taking them off but they seem to keep putting them back on

@WhoWants2Know I found it helpful to put a small elastic band around the base of my finger which acted as a tourniquet which some other companies supply for the blood test.

Orangesandlemons82 · 15/03/2022 10:57

@Scooby5kids you can remove them. Are you on the website? The online help person is really useful and helped my dad order just cholesterol and the hba1c test.

Yes, have used them a few times.

Something to bear in mind though .. you're having these tests completely off your own back and therefore there is no clinical context. So sometimes you get a result you cant interpret or
you panic about because it's so stand alone and no symptoms.

But they're easy to use, fairly quick and easy to cancel

Yeah I thought this, that's why I'm only interested in just the cholesterol ones because I think if I got all the liver kidney function and inflammation marker ones I think it would freak me out if the results were off or borderline. Like you say I don't understand it or what things can affect them so it would be useless to me. I think the cholesterol one is pretty straight forward basically needs to be under a certain number and if not then you should try lower it with lifestyle change

@Scooby5kids yep been there with the inflammation marker one. Told was 'severely abnormal' and to consult GP urgently

GP consulted in a panic. GP completely nonplussed at the result and had no idea why I should think it's abnormal

But yes you should be fine with a cholesterol check

TerminallyIndecisive · 16/03/2022 09:47

I'm interested in this too - I'm on iron to raise my low ferritin and wanted to check on progress after a few weeks.
@Orangesandlemons82 would you be willing to send me a referral code too please? Only if it's ok with you. Thank you!

Orangesandlemons82 · 16/03/2022 09:51

@TerminallyIndecisive of course , I will do it now.

TerminallyIndecisive · 16/03/2022 09:53

Thank you so much, I've got it.

So I just wanted to update you on this, incase anyone is thinking of getting one of these blood tests. My experience so far has been quite meh.

So I decided to purchase a Cholesterol profile blood test and paid extra for a ferritin level test too. I ordered the test, the test came quickly, I sent it off and the results were processed and came back within 2 days. Which I though was brilliant... until... I realised that half of the results in the cholesterol profile were missing! The doctor has said in the report that this was because the blood had clotted. So I didn't actually get to find out what my actual cholesterol was in the end because these were the ones missing. I attempted to talk on the chat and I was informed that because the majority of the results were there they wouldn't provide a free retest and that they would only refund me £5 🙄 she then sent a load of links to the policy and condescended to me about how it must have been my technique of squeezing the blood out of my finger that had damaged the sample. I did it exactly as per instructions! I explained that it was actually nearly half the results missing and she seemed very dismissive of my disappointment and just kept going on about the £5 shitty refund. What also annoys me the most is that in the policy is says they can offer a retest at their discretion. So it's not that they can't, it's just they didn't want to 😢 I actually left the chat feeling very upset like it was just "yeah sorry you're disappointed, here's £5 to make up for the fact you've wasted £50" to every single point I made. I don't recommend the company at all. Please don't waste your money unless you're prepared to take a gamble that some of the results might be missing
