I find the neurofen gel capsules the easiest to swallow. I did try the neurofen meltlet things but they tasted foul and made me feel even worse.

I have problems with taking tablets because I have a very sensitive gag reflex so the smaller and smoother the better. I have voltarol tablets which are tiny and smooth but they have to be prescribed.

Pheebe · 05/01/2008 15:27

you can also get supositories but again they have to be prescribed

SleighlyMadSanta · 05/01/2008 15:29

If need be you can take infant neurofen/calpol medicine. You just need to know the dose.

I think that 10ml of 6+ calpol is hte equivalent of 1 paracetamol tablet (500mg) but please double check before taking my word for it.

hi you can get dissolvable paracetamol, my hubbie can't do tablets, so has these or calpol fastmelts, 6+ taste alot better and are suitable for adults!

moonmother · 05/01/2008 15:35

soluble aspirin...if you can manage swallowing small sips.

I had really bad tonsilitus not long ago and literally couldn't swallow anything.

I can't stand soluble painkillers but my GP said they'd help with the throat pain and with temp etc as well.So I gargled and swallowed small amounts at a time .

Hope you feel better soon xx

Am taking them so often atm and being sick so often seem to be missing most of the beneifts too

Have you tried the calpol meltlets aged 6+?

They smell quite tastey, but have never tried them. Again you need to check the dose but at a guess you would need 4 of them for the equivalent of 2 adult tablets...

I have just taken 4 x calpol meltlets (have terrible headache and no adult painkillers) - the equiv of 2 x nomral paracetamol

they are minging but do dissolve in your mouth

SlightlyMadShrek · 06/01/2008 21:17

I have just had a brainwave.

You don't described your specific problem but things like lemsip/beechams powders are loaded with paracetamol. Not sure if you could swallow these. They are liquid but obv larger volume to take.

lemsip Max has the equivalent of 2 paracetamol tabs in (1000mg)(also has a decongestant}. Regular lemsip only has (650mg).

Beechams flu plus will also give you 1000mg paracetamol with slightly less decongestant.

SpawnChorus · 06/01/2008 21:23

Or how about normal baby Calpol/Calprofen? You'd have to take quite a lot to get the right dose though.

Nymphadora · 07/01/2008 18:11

Have resorted to calpol before, works just tastes awful!

taking with fizzy drinks helps the medicine go down easier, but i don't know whats wrong with you, so not sure if thats appropriate!

you may need anti sickness medication alongside your pain killers

wheresthehamster · 07/01/2008 18:29

Can you manage Panadol or Tesco equivalent dissolvable paracetemol in a glass of water?

Nymphadora · 09/01/2008 19:30

This is on the anti-sickness meds! Not doing that wonderful job still sick just not constantly!
