Persistent low grade fever

My temperature is usually good first thing in the morning. It's usually about 36.6/36.7/36.8.

It usually rises over the course of the day. I would say by lunch time, It can be anywhere from 37 to 37.4.

By evenings, it usually higher.

Basically for the past few weeks I have experienced a persistent low grade fever in the evenings. It can be anywhere from 37.5 to 37.9. This is every evening.

I was diagnosed with diverticulosis a few weeks ago. I had a suspected infection in the colon last summer.

I know I will be prone to infections going forward. I doing my best to prevent infections by minimising constipation but unfortunately I did have a spell of constipation about 2 or 3 weeks ago and that that can contribute to a flare.

I don't know what to do and if I should be booking a GPs appointment. I don't have any big pain or cramping in my belly and I feel well aside from this. I am a little bit tired but I was so busy so I am attributing the tiredness to being very busy. The only thing that is catching me off guard right now is the low grade fever between 37.5 and 37.9 every evening/night.

Have you always been like this ?

Some people naturally do run hotter. I am one and can in the evening (as I’m given to understand body temp rises throughout the day into evening) have temps in line with yours most of the time.

Yes, I have always run a few points of a degree warm. See a GP if you start to feel unwell - if it's just one bothersome symptom I'd try 111 first.

I genuinely did as a doctor about it once - and when covid happened I was concerned I’d be setting off temperature scanners and all sorts but I haven’t yet.

My doctor said unless I was unwell it was fine.

I think my body temperature always ran high. I was always a warm person and I swear a lot. It was only with covid and the pandemic I was checking my temperature more and more. That's when I found my temperature spiking over 38 out of the blue and a medical investigation/test showed diverticulosis/diverticulitis.

I think I won't panic any more til it gets to about 37.8/37.9 with some pain and other signs like constipation/diarrhoea.

During the heat of the pandemic, I was taking paracetamol to conceal high temperatures just in case a high temperature presented itself and I was denied entry but don't worry, I did not abuse this. I was following the public health guidance on reducing close contacts and limiting exposures and me having covid was low risk. My outings into indoor public gatherings were few and limited and if I had any doubt of a possible covid exposure, I never would have put others at risk.
On the other hand my temperature was going high and I felt a lot of the time,it was covid related.
