I need to see the GP but I don't know where to start!

I'm a mess - I have TMJ pain which is getting me down, I'm in peri menopause and would like HRT, I'm anxious and crying a lot if the time, sleep badly, itchy sore scalp, have horrible pains in one of my knees, a stiff neck and achy back...just general ongoing things that I've had on and off for a while but right now I seem to have them all at once and today I've just had enough.

Can I even go to the GP with all of these things at the same time? I feel like they are so limited on time for appointments that I'm going to be annoying that I'm not just going with one specific thing wrong with me!

Ask for a double appointment if you can get one. Try and prioritise your problems and go through as many as you have time for.

Or send an email for econsult and list them all out.

Good luck!

If your surgery has a menopause "specialist/nurse" you may be able to make an appt with them to discuss any symptoms that you think are related to menopause, and then another appt for everything else.

Literally just show them this post

OP I have TMJ and it's better to see a dentist about that.

For TMJ you indeed need to see a Dentist (I work in a dental department) try heat/cold packs - soft food diet and analgesics. You might need a bite raising appliance to wear at night to reduce clenching of teeth.

You need to see GP first to rule out conditions that are linked with jaw pain, such as some forms of inflammatory arthritis.

Thanks all, really helpful. I've been to the dentist already and have a splint but it seems to make no difference. I have another appointment booked but I booked it in Jan and they can't fit me in until April. The dentist did say that it's not uncommon for teeth to shift around menopause age and that may be why it's started. Going to call the GP tomorrow!

Get a double appt and mention all of those things in a list right at the start but put them into priority order (some may be linked). If everything can't be covered in that one consultation they should ask you to book another appointment (or offer to book it for you).

@Covidwoes just wondering does it affect you much. I have been diagnosed and feeling really down and in alot of pain. Will it always be this bad?
