All of a sudden I feel full very quickly

I've always had a good appetite. Fit and active, not over weight, but enjoy my food.

Suddenly, I feel uncomfortabley full after relatively small meals. I'll be hungry again within a couple of hours, but at the mealtime I can't eat very much.

I'm 51 and I've often heard women say they can't eat like they used to as they go through menopause, but is it because they feel full or because they don't have such an appetite? Is that the same thing?

Basically, is this anything to worry about? E.g. lunch of soup and a bread roll feels like I've eaten a blow out meal and leaves my stomach feeling uncomfortable.

Pls speak to a gp

Don't want to worry you but this was an ovarian cancer sign my own mum displayed.

gamerchick · 11/03/2022 11:56

I had this before and a long time after a huge bleed from the bowel. My insides haven't been right since, never got to the bottom of it.

Not saying you have the same issues but I'd make a GP appointment. Just might a short term loss of appetite with no reason but get it checked out anyway.

Hi OP, I don't want to worry you but please see your GP as soon as you can. I have Ovarian Cancer and feeling full is one of the early signs of this. Saying this, it is much much more likely to not be OC and be something which can easily be treated but much better safe than sorry.

Joystir59 · 11/03/2022 13:34

I also urge you to go your GP as my wife died of ovarian cancer aged 58 and this was one of her symptoms.

Squeekyturtle · 11/03/2022 14:41

Definitely get it checked just in case but just to give another less worrying answer I had a similar feeling and it turned out to be GERD a form of reflux/indigestion which was sorted with some stronger than over the counter meds from the GP.

VivaDixie · 11/03/2022 14:45

I read the title of the thread and came on to say exactly what most PPs are saying.

Please go to a GP. This was my friends first symptom of OC.

Fingers crossed it is menopausal but do get checked out

Plutoisaplanet · 11/03/2022 14:47

Once other things have been explored/ruled out gastroparesis might be worth considering

Badgerstmary · 11/03/2022 18:57

I came on here to same the same as everyone else. My mum had ovarian cancer at 51. Hopefully it will be something minor op, but please get it checked out.

mrsrobin · 11/03/2022 19:57

I also had this symptom - mine was a large ovarian cyst - had to have it removed as was too large to leave.
You need to get it checked out - you will need an ultrasound.

Was gonna say the same. Phone gp tomorrow and don’t be fobbed off

^ this. Could be a sign of cancer so definitely get it checked out
ILoveAllRainbowsx · 11/03/2022 20:08

It is much more likely to be an ovarian cyst so don't worry too much but you do need to be checked out incase it is cancer.
