Thyroid Lump

Can I ask if anyone has / had a thyroid lump, how big it was and what it was?

Had a baby 5 months ago (don’t know if that’s relevant) and noticed a small lump on right of my thyroid a couple of weeks ago and have been stressing about it since.

I suffer with anxiety on and off anyway so I don’t know if I am prodding and poking at something insignificant or if I should get it checked.

Thanks!

@Amz6219 - neither really. I was diagnosed with anxiety at first. I was having panic attacks, palpitations and severe health anxiety for ages. All of which went away after the surgery. All caused extra thyroid hormones.

I didn't actually feel the lump at all externally. Swallowing felt a bit funny but that was all.

It got randomly picked up when I was due a cholesterol test and the GP added a routine thyroid test which showed hyperthyroidism.

Then I had an ultrasound and hey presto there was a big lump.

Oh my goodness @Orchan that big but you couldn’t feel it externally, makes me wonder if mine is big if I can feel it externally 😳

Glad it’s resolved for you

Been to GP, she said it feels more like a gland as it is further forward than she’d expect if it was thyroid related (I thought gland would be soft where this is hard but I’m not a doctor I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️).

Booked in for full bloods including thyroid function and to go back in the meantime if it gets bigger.

I had a noticeable lump
Turned out it was on my thyroid but
Normal thyroid test
I had to have an ultrasound scan , the dr was concerned that it just wasn't fluid so did a fine needle biopsy there and then .
The results were inconclusive
I saw a neck cancer surgeon within a week , who said he was taking my case to the next mdt meeting where the oncologist wanted it removed
I was put on the cancer pathway and operated on within 2 weeks

Most of my thyroid was removed
Luckily it was a benign tumour
And my remaining thyroid is still working perfectly

I was told most thyroid lumps are usually just harmless fluid filled cysts
So hopefully yours is just that
