Got GP telephone app booked ...but just wondering if anyone else was this low and how long it took to get back to normal levels ?

He is not nocturnal !
He leaves the house at least 5/6 times a week .
Diet not great ,but we have been referred to dietitian for that ...but all other bloods normal .

Thanks .

That does sound low! Going out makes no difference during the winter months so ideally taking vitamin D3 should be routine I think.
I believe it’s good to combine it with vitamin K for some reason but someone more knowledgeable might come along; we all take it every day as an oral spray.

Has he been tired? As both his energy and immunity should really improve

Ps I remember mine once being 19 I think and it’s really common. I was in my early 20s and would be interested in what it is now

@GestationalDiabetes
Thank you for replying .
Bit D has always been an issue !
He is prescribed an oral spray ...but bloods were never checked .
To be fair ...I don't think he takes a squirt every day as his ASD sensory stuff is a problem.
i might take squirts if it though!

Just wondering if I need to push this further than a loading/higher dose of VIT D , or something else ?

In order to make your own vitamin D, you need to be outside, with skin uncovered, in the middle few hours of the day, when it isn't raining or cloudy, in the 5 months of the year (summer) when the sun gets high enough in the sky to generate the right wave lengths of light. Which is why so many, many people in the UK, especially up north, are vitD deficient.

with vit d that low he needs an urgent superdosing schedule plus magnesium citrate, clacium and vitamin k

There is good info on this website as I found it useful to know not to wash immediately after sunshine in summer as it can take 48 hours for vitamin D to absorb for example

Mine was 15 when I was tested. I didn't have any particular symptoms, I was just nosy so booked a private test.
GP prescribed 40,000 units a day for 5 days then maintenance dose of 2000 a day. I can't remember if bloods were done 3 or 6 months later, but they came back as 90 which is fine. I now take over the counter 2000 a day dose for the forseeable future.

I honestly don't feel like it's made any difference to my well being. I didn't have any particular symptoms that it might fix. But perhaps it's helping my immune system or something else that I can't see or feel, so I'll keep on with it as medical peeps seem to think it's a good idea.

It wasn't really surprising that it was so low though as I burn super easily and hate suncream. So even on sunny days, I stick to the shade and cover up.

I had mine tested. I had been taking 2000 units a day for a year and it came back at 45. Dread to think what it would have been.
Like @xyzandabc I felt no noticable improvement in health after taking it.

My vit D is low, It’s quite common with my disability, I take 10,000 international units a day, and still I can’t get to an optimum reading. I have full blood count every three months.
