hubby has ears that stick out a bit and my Lo has inhereited this trait - however they aren't so bad but unfortunately one ear esp is getting worse

the fact it sticks out a bit means it keeps getting caught in bed etc when he leans head to side

and now 5 months down - the ear is getting worse.....

what do i do?

hat would overheat LO
strap dangerous

are there any tapes etc you can stick behind ear to put at night safely?

help - really worried his ear will end up like dumbo

folk have already commented on it getting worse!

any info appreciated

There are supports available to shape ears but info here probably best to take medical advice and get them prescribed if needs be. Presumably lo hasn't got much hair yet so that will make a huge difference to his appearance and hsi head willl chaneg shape as he grows , so hsi ears could look more in proportion. Baby's ears are very pliable so it won't hurt him to catch his ear nor will it affect his hearing . Once he can sit up it may mean it evens out as he won't be lying awkwardly so often. People are mean to pick on something so trivial but remember they are looking for a distinctive characteristic to match you or dh which a passerby probably wouldn't even notice.

DS1 has the same sticky out ears as his dad and they looked dreadful when he was a baby, like dumbo ears and I was really worried. however, as he's got older they look more in proportion with his head and although they still stick out alot more than mine they're his ears and they look perfectly fine (took a survey of mums at his nursery to be sure!). Babies heads change and grow so much at this stage that I wouldn't worry too much yet, when he gets his proper head of hair that will change his appearance dramatically too.

I went to school with someone whose ears were no worse than DSs and at the age of about 10 he (his decision) opted to have an op to reposition them, he was off school for about a weeks and tbh didn't look much different afterwards.
