How long does it take for biopsy results from colonoscopy

I had a colonoscopy 5 weeks ago due to being sick last year. My GP referred me. The paper I got after the procedure said may take two weeks for biopsy results. It's weeks past that now. Is the delay anything to worry about? Who talks to me about the results? Is it the GP or will an appointment be set up for a consult from the hospital? I rang the GP but the biopsy/ies weren't back yet. My GP is usually good at emailing me results but she didn't do that yet. Why is there such a delay?

Just call the endoscopy team. Tell them you weren’t given a copy of the report and ask them to send you a copy. Then ask them who the biopsy result is being sent to. The person on the phone may not be able to give you the results on the phone so be prepared that you may come off the phone none the wiser. If the biopsy results are sent to your GP then you need to speak to them. If they are sent to a consultant then you need to ask who and speak to their team. It’ll take 5 minutes and at the least, reassure you that you aren’t lost in the system
