DH panicking

He keeps telling me he's fine and completely calm but he's pacing the house and behaving oddly. Basically he was asleep and a sharp pain in his right foot woke him up and his heart rate was really high. He came downstairs and turned the telly off to tell me this then said 'I'm just providing you with information'. I found this quite unnerving as it implied I would need this information for paramedics or something! Checked his BP and it's 178/94 & pulse is currently 98. No other symptoms apart from feeling gassy after a Chinese. No leg swelling or anything. What do we think??

Well you need to seek medical advice. No one on here will have a clue.

goldensilver · 01/03/2022 22:45

Does he normally have high BP? That is very high although if he's panicking then that might explain it (and the tachycardia).
I can't think of anything it could be?
Can you try to calm him down then retake BP?

goldensilver · 01/03/2022 22:46

If it's still high phone GP in the morning?

thehighsandthelows · 01/03/2022 22:48

I know he needs to seek medical advice but I was just trying to work out how urgent it was. I'm not overly worried but he definitely was (although he kept insisting he wasn't). GP tomorrow? He seems ok now. Will recheck BP.

149/81 now and pulse 82. He said he's feeling better so panic over I think. Will see GP tomorrow.

If you didn't have a BP machine, what would you do? He's been woken up by cramp or something in his foot, and he's now feeling anxious? Is his foot still sore?

Sometimes if I get woken by something suddenly, it can trigger anxiety and takes a while to calm down.

Sunnyday321 · 01/03/2022 23:01

It could be MSG in his Chinese meal that has raised his stats .My heart races after eating one , and I feel hyper & wired . Stopped eating them years ago because of it.

thehighsandthelows · 01/03/2022 23:01

Well he's got this Apple Watch which told him his pulse was 180 when he got the pain in his foot. So the high heart rate plus an unusual pain that woke him up (said he's never had it before) obviously concerned him.

thehighsandthelows · 01/03/2022 23:03

@Sunnyday321 quite possibly!! I honestly don't know why he eats it, he gets the most awful gastro reactions to a lot of takeaway food. His stomach is really bloated.

OP posts:
lisaandalan · 01/03/2022 23:32

Maybe he has had an allergic reaction to something in the food. X

Happydays353535 · 02/03/2022 00:57

Could it have been an attack of gout if it was near his big toe?

DartmoorChef · 02/03/2022 01:00

I was about to say it sounds like a reaction to msg.

goldensilver · 02/03/2022 12:12

How are things today?
Hopefully he can get pulse and BP checked at the GP as those readings are v high.

DeedIDo · 02/03/2022 13:14

I thought MSG too

Freddofan · 02/03/2022 13:24

Surely if (for instance) he got cramp in his foot that was a sharp enough pain would have woken up heart racing .. exactly as I do if the alarm goes off in the middle of the night. Its your body’s response to the adrenaline from being woken up sudden and in pain. His watch or an app can probably show him his heart rate over an extended period which may give a better view.

thehighsandthelows · 02/03/2022 17:22

Yeah fair point @Freddofan! He's ok today. Hopefully will still go and see the GP.

forget about the apple watch - that could be faulty
think about his actual symptoms
and what does he want to do?

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 03/03/2022 07:17

180bpm is REALLY high - was he breathless?
