Has anyone ever scratched their eye before? Please help!

I think I've scratched my eye whilst removing a contact lens two nights ago. I've got pain in the eye, blurred vision and I've also got this feeling that something is in the eye/sensitivity to light.

Will this permanently leave my vision blurred?

Waiting in A&E to be seen, but I'm just so worried.

Thanks

I should clarify that the paint hurt a lot, not the examination or having it removed. That was all fine and no pain at all.

Yes! Loads! It’s always been fine.

Lots of opticians will do an eye health check free, and a lot easier to book than the GP at the moment. They put some drops in that show up scratches and dry patches and can arrange eye drops if you need them to help it heal.

Spec savers was the one I used.

dh and the cat had an incident....he maintains the cat jumped into his eye, I say he rudely applied his cornea to the cat's paw!

I took him to minor injuries, anaesthetic drops and fluorescein and they referred him up to the A&E eye dept, more drops and a good looking over from an ophthalmologist and she had to fetch tweezers to peel off a scraped off flappy bit....he STILL moans about that. What he thought she was going to do with the tweezers I don't know, but still

A course of antib eye drops and advice to use artificial tears to prevent it opening up again. For a while after I think he may have had that recurrent abrasion thing that @Birdkin has, but he wouldn't go for the dry eye drops < think Rachel in Friends> so serve him right tbh. He's a huge ninny about eye things and this incident with the cat hasn't helped.

Thanks everyone.

I feel a bit more reassured as I've also seen the doctor at A&E

She said there is a scratch through the middle of the eye. It's nothing too serious. She gave an antibiotic ointment and said wait 5-7 days for it to heal and then see optician if it doesn't heal by then.

Thank you
