10 year old dd red rash on cheeks and poorly

Hi

we are rarely ill in our house but this winter my dd has had an unheard of number of illnesses. I posted a little while ago about her having "funny turns" where everything "speeds up" in her words. She has had a cold since Boxing Day and I though it was getting better, then on New Years Day wakes up with a red, raised rash on her cheeks.

It looks most like an allergy rash (she is in panto and has to wear stage makeup and does sometimes react to it - we both have sensitive skin) and as the cold was nearly gone I figured it was just allergy. It had settled down this morning but she has just come back from school burning hot again, red rash on her cheeks and sore throat. She has also had another of these funny turns.

I don't know what best to do - are any of the current nasties going around giving kids a rash on their face? I'm useless where illness is concerned - my worst mother moment was when she had chickenpox and I didn't realise thats what it was ... for days! I'd never seen it before. So now I'm paranoid that I'm going to miss something serious. I have spoken to the dr about the funny turns but they didn't seem too concerned and until today she hadn't had one for a couple of weeks or so.

Hi, could your DD have slapped cheek? And maybe the funny turns are due to high temperature?

My boys have had slapped cheek and also frequently get a rash like flea bites which is apparently due to "non-specific viral infections", cold and coughs aggrevate their eczema too.

Also a friends DS had a very funny turn after having his face painted at a circus - allergic reaction - and has to carry a adrenalin pen.

Only suggestions, but HTH in some way.

It could be slapped cheek from reading those symptoms. I have kept her off school today and she didn't argue with me (so she must be ill as she hates missing school!)

She has gone back to bed so I think I'll see how she is when she wakes up, and maybe see if I can speak to the dr if she hasn't improved any.
