Colic in an adult???

Is it possible??
DH has been getting trapped wind and constipation type symptoms for years, seems to be triggered when he does any heavy/awkward lifting particularly if he's bit out of shape. Docs don't think its a hernia or anything serious but can't give any diagnosis or suggest anything to help.
It can really knock him for six when its bad.
Any ideas what it could be and what he could do to relieve it. Windeze and lactulose seem to help a bit...

OMG, I've had this a couple of times and it is so, so painful, thought I was going to die the first time it happened. Fortunately for me it's fairly rare that I get it. If windeze/lactulose help then maybe he should try increasing the fibre in his diet in case it's underlying constipation - so bran, kiwi fruit, prunes etc. You can also buy things that are a drink and are just fibre (forget the name at the moment) Hope he feels better soon.

you can get these sort of pains with a candida infection or irritable bowel syndrome, I think.

Yes its possible. I had this as a teenager -can remember literally doubling over with the pain and the school refused to phone my mum saying it was probably period pain

I was in such agony, I sent my friend to a phonebox at lunchtime to phone home. My mum was furious that she hadn't been contacted when she saw the state I was in.

As nightynight says, could also be IBS.

Thanks guys, hadn't thought about it being IBS, my sis has that but has very different symptoms (diarrhoea rather than constipation). Trying to get him to drink more and will crank up the fibre in all our diets I think
