Ringworm advice

Posted yesterday as Ds had a strange rash, GP confirmed today via photos it’s ringworm, prescribes canestan.
What else do I need to do?
I’ve read that it’s contagious but he’s had the big patch on his neck for at least a fortnight and the rest of us don’t have it.

Don’t share towels or bedding, avoid touching the area. Tell him he needs to wash hands if he touches the area. I’d possibly avoid sharing hair brushes too tbh but I’ve got long hair so I’m aware my brush touches my neck occasionally.
Does his coat touch that part of his neck? Maybe give it a wash.

It’s probably down to luck that it hasn’t been passed on, or it’s not developed yet!
The incubation period for ringworm in humans is usually one to two weeks. Because the fungal spores are present before you see the ringworm outbreak, you can catch it from someone even before it shows up on them

Towels, bedding and brushes all ok, we don’t share those.
Will give his coat a wash.
Ah I hope we don’t catch it, stressing me out enough with him having it Blush
Do you know if it’s still infectious once you start applying the cream, forgot to ask GP earlier.

You have probably already read this but linking anyway

Make sure you wash on higher temperatures such as 60 degrees for bedding, towels, tops/shirts. No scratching at all otherwise make him wear gloves. Just the feeling of glove on neck will make him realise he's scratching subconsciously and make him stop.
