Liquid diets for medical/health reasons

I had some trouble with my tummy last summer. My GP referred me to the hospital for a colonoscopy. I was on a waiting list for a few months. The procedure went ahead a few weeks ago. After the procedure a nurse gave me a discharge paper and there was a small square or section that gave me a list of what was observed/carried out. It listed diverticulosis, polyp removed, biopsies taken. I wasn't given any other information from that. I was expecting my GP to perhaps inform me more but that hasn't happened. Unfortunately my back is against the wall with work and I don't have any free time til next week to make a phone call to the GP surgery.

If you Google diverticulosis, it says it's a common finding. Lots of people have them and it doesn't cause any issues except for some people.

I think I definitely had some issues last summer and I think there was something there long term before I even knew you could suffer in your guts.

I think I might be flaring now but I don't know. My is sore on and off but it's not a big pain. I had some rounds of diarrhea yesterday and I am running a low grade fever since yesterday. I was going to make an appointment with the doctor this morning but I felt well this morning but then I spoke to soon. Everything back again this afternoon.

I am on a Facebook group for this condition and loads of people recommends a clear liquid diet for 2 to 3 days with no foods when you're in a flare.

That all seems very daunting to me especially without any medical instructions from my own GP or any other medical professional.

What do you think, should I attempt a liquid day or 2 or wait til I get further instructions from a medical professional.

My problem is my work won't be very accommodating towards a liquid diet and I would be anxious of getting weak with no liquids.

Currently I am doing a mix day of soft foods and liquids. Hopefully my bowel won't go bang over the weekend.

Without a doubt I would wait for advice from a hcp rather than online advice (ironic I know as I am advising online!). Changing diets specifically going liquid only even for a few days would seem a bit extreme unless advised to by a dietician or similar.

I would just send off an econsult or book a phone consultation and ask for further instructions. Maybe try the obvious of avoiding spicy food and alcohol and see if it improves.
