Does this prescription need glasses?

I've felt my right eye has been blurry recently. Went to the optician and this is the result which to me doesn't sound like it warrants glasses. But my vision is bothering me as it is.

If anyone can explain the numbers I'd appreciate it.

If you are aware of slightly blurry distance vision especially in the right eye then you would benefit from glasses in your prescription. They would be useful for TV, cinema, driving (especially at night) etc

Well it means you’re extremely mildly short sighted. (For disclosure I’m -9.50 both eyes so very, very short sighted!) If your sight is blurry it might be worth getting some glasses - from somewhere cheap like asda etc but if my eyes were that prescription I’m not sure I’d bother. It depends how much it bothers you.

If it’s bothering you then get glasses - you don’t have to wear them all the time.

If you can't see properly just get glasses?

You are a little myopic (short sighted) with a small astigmatism. It means things will look a bit blurry and unfocused especially for distance tasks and more in your right eye.

I'm an optician. Most people would wear glasses for distance with that prescription. If you drive it will especially help with driving at night (as you go a little more myopic in dark conditions).
They'll also make far distance clearer for theatre/cinema.

You don't need them for computer, reading or general use, in fact if you're over 40, you may find wearing them makes close vision more difficult.

This is all really helpful. Thank you.
