Recall from routine mammogram

Just that really - got a recall letter today. The leaflet says 4 out of 5 recalls are not cancer, but I am still freaking out rather. In fact, I'm shaking after reading the letter.

Agh! Appointment is next week. Any words of wisdom on how to cope before then?

I had a recall and it was cancer but I've had my treatment and I'm fine. It's better to be recalled and treated early if it's bad news. BC is no longer the death sentence it once was. Your are LESS likely to be diagnosed but I do understand your fear. Sending you lots of positive vibes and hope all is good Thanks

I had a recall after my first routine mammogram, it was awful waiting for my appointment. On the day I had a repeat mammogram and a scan that seemed to take for ever and all was fine thankfully.

A colleague had same experience at the same time , also first routine screening and she was OK too.
Try and keep occupied and if you need to talk or express your fears talk to a loved one or friend who will just listen and acknowledge your anxieties.
Sending good thoughts for a positive outcome,

Thank you. It's been really helpful to hear everyone's experiences. I feel a bit calmer today.

Update: had my appointment this morning and thankfully everything is fine.

I had a lot of mammograms, after which they were able to tell me that despite having 4 areas of concern, it looked ok. They then did ultrasound to confirm and again all fine - mainly benign calcifications. So relieved. Thanks for all your kind words last week.

That's great news :-)

@Killermontstreet so glad to hear that all is well! And also that the appointment is now done. I’ve been grateful for the number of times I’ve had a technician or even the radiologist let slip that all is good, before the official report is released. I can normally tell if it’s a recall or further tests depending on the wording. So happy for you Flowers
