Threadworms!?

Okay so I’m going to no doubt sound stupid but I’ll say it anyway. Do threadworms always move on your bottom or do they stay still?

I ask as there is threadworms going around my child’s school, and I’ve got some white stuff down on my anus and it’s slightly itchy but I don’t know if it’s discharge and itchiness from my hemorrhoids or if it’s worms!! I’ve looked several times(the best that you can on your own) and it never seems to move but now I’m hugely paranoid. So do they just stay still sometimes on the anus or is it something else?

I’m tempted to just take the medication just in case now.

Just take it anyway. Anytime any of us have itchybum we just take it.

I found when they started school it wasn't talked about like headlice! Also read a horrifyinh number of us have it at anyone time....

Remember buy enough to treat all and do again 2 weeks later (I think).

If we could afford it I'd probably treat twice a year anyway....

They tend to stay still and then they move if you watch carefully. From what I think I remember about them, they tend to come out more at night time and lay eggs. You can just about see the tiny eggs around the anus in the morning. The best thing to do is take medication (ovex make family packs), wash ALL bedding, towels and clothes. They're ever so common!

A bit tmi, but I filmed it to check and they didn’t move for a good minute or so when I did. That’s why I wasn’t sure if it was potential discharge from the haemorrhoids as it wasn’t moving got so long.

I think I’ll take it to be on the safe side, and burn the blinking house down whilst I’m there too 😩

Also I forgot to ask, my little one is only tiny and still only settles in bed with me, is it safe to share the bed with them still (obviously I’m wearing pants etc and washing all bedding etc all the time now, they also usually brings in their own bedding in my bed as well)?

We've just discovered an infection in our house! I was mortified as I'd never heard of them, but the pharmacist was lovely and reassuring.

Under Wales common ailments scheme we have had the medication free of charge to treat the entire household. One dose now and she said another dose in 2 weeks to be on the safe side. Wash all bedding in the house and towels.

I can't see an issue bed sharing if everyone has been treated and are in fresh bedding OP. Also we were told everyone to wear PJ bottoms or underwear in bed for the next month. Wash hands before eating after toileting (obviously) and to avoid nail bitting or fingers in mouth.

When I googled last night I though we were somehow unclean or something, but the pharmacist said "it's common, no reflection on someone's cleanliness, and just one of those things"
